As part of the Modern Cities Program, Veszprém recently gained a new gymnast as part of the renovation of the City Stadium complex. In addition to serving local needs, the city’s gymnasium also provides training opportunities for students in the region.
The former facility was built in the 1970s, so it became necessary to design a hall that meets the requirements of a modern age. The urban gymnasium was built by VEMÉVSZER and MIN-TECH Kft. completed, the works were completed in 2021.
The gym has a floor area of 40 x 30 meters, a height of 11 meters, and a net floor area of 1,500 square meters. The facility – which also provides space for competitive sports, youth training, school sports and local recreational sports – provides quality training opportunities for 230 gymnasts and gymnasts.
During the construction, a monolithic reinforced concrete structure of nearly 400 cubic meters was built, with 1,200 square meters of PVC flat roof insulation, 30 tons of structural steel were used, and 400 square meters of curtain wall surface was installed.
In the hall area, there are sponge pits on an area of nearly 200 square meters, which were created at a depth of about 1 meter from the floor. The special floor structure required particularly heavy-duty thermal insulation, so RAVATHERM XPS 700 SL was placed under it.
The design of the curtain wall on the east side is the most interesting: OKALUX windows made with special technology were installed here, which were manufactured in Germany. The unique purpose of the special door and window is that it allows only 30 percent of the light to pass through and creates uniform light conditions in the hall without creating shadows.
The latter was a serious expectation from the customer’s side.

In order to avoid the weight of the glasses and the risk of injury, the traditional racking technology was not suitable, so special robots were used.
