The Waldorf school in Dunaújváros – just like any Waldorf institution in the world – is the result of parent cooperation. The building in the Pentele district – which now houses the school – was given to the Waldorf community by the municipality for use in 2015.
The property also functioned as a school in the past, but before it became a Waldorf school, it stood alone for 12 years, during which time its condition deteriorated a lot. However, the parent community and the foundation are constantly beautifying and renovating the building on their own and with the help of external supporters. In the 2018 Castle Builder tender, the institution received 200 m2 of RAVATHERM XPS thermal insulation material, which was laid on the floor of the 150 m2 attic space in the attic, which, according to the plans, will one day – after the attic is installed – function as a theater room. The remaining material was also used to insulate the floor of one of the 50 m2, currently unused, unheated classrooms – i.e. the slab that is currently cooling upwards. The construction was carried out by volunteers, two parents, a brother and RAVATHERM Hungary Ltd. two employees. The thermal insulation of the two localities took one morning, but the result will ensure the comfort of the children and adults using the building for decades to come.
