The tourist house in Dobogókő, which has been operating since 1906 and is constantly being expanded and developed, was further modernized this year thanks to the Hungarian Tourist Association, the renovated facade walls of the building were covered with RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB thermal insulation.
Sometime before the beginning of the last century, the founders of the Magyar Turista Egyesület saw that the ever-increasing number of hikers would need shelters, so they opened the first such building with harrow walls in 1898 on Dobogókő, which at that time was still able to provide safety for 15 people in two rooms. However, the tourist house quickly became quite popular, so the association decided to expand the building. However, the history of the house does not stop there, as this trend has continued over the past hundred years, the building has undergone numerous expansions and modernizations. (You can read the history of the shelter on the association’s website.)
During the renovation of the walls of the building, which is now under monument protection, the thermal insulation is provided by RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB closed-cell polystyrene foam, which, in addition to its excellent thermal insulation properties, enables high-strength adhesion and plasterability with its factory-roughened surface, thus helping to preserve the building’s historic character.
