The building of the National Museum Restoration and Storage Center (OMRRK) in the area of the former hospital on Szabolcs Street near Városliget was handed over, in which the flat roof and plinth received RAVATHERM XPS thermal insulation.
About the building complex
In addition to the 37,000 square meter complex, a 13,000 square meter public park was also established. The development was carried out by the Liget Budapest Project. The complex includes a visitor center, restoration workshops, warehouses, office spaces, and research rooms. Nearly three hundred thousand artefacts of the Museum of Ethnography, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian National Gallery are located here. Collection and storage problems of many decades were solved in this way. The Central European Art History Research Institute was also located in the complex. Around one and a half million documents await those interested here. During the development, the Narmer Architectural Studio led by the Ybl award winner Zsolt Vasáros paid special attention to the harmony of the old and new buildings, keeping in mind the concept of timelessness.
Sufficient thermal insulation is essential for developments of this volume, so taking into account the necessary energy requirements, the choice fell on the high compressive strength, easy to install RAVATHERM XPS 300 SL. Both the flat roof and the plinth were installed with our blue thermal insulation, with the help of which it was possible to create a constant temperature and relative humidity and to maintain it for a long time, which is crucial from the point of view of protecting the works of art.
