The technical handover of the extension of the domestic Aldi Logistics Center, an 8,800 m2 cold storage, took place in recent days. In this way, the company can provide customers with a much larger range of refrigerated products, and at the same time it increases the number of warehouse workers by 50 people, thus employing more than 550 people in the field of logistics alone.
In the new food warehouse, refrigerated goods will line up on shelves more than 10 meters high, and there will be regular forklift traffic, so the floor structure of the hall must withstand the resulting increased use.
10 cm thick RAVATHERM XPS 700 SL thermal insulation boards were placed under the reinforced concrete floor structure. This material can be said to be special in many respects, because in addition to its resistance to moisture, it has an outstanding compressive strength (70 tons/m2) and a lasting compressive strength of 250 kPa for 50 years. Thanks to these beneficial properties, it is a long-term, high-quality solution for similar industrial applications.
Almost 8.5 billion Forints was spent on the investment, of which 4.6 billion Forints was spent on expanding the network, for which a similar amount will be allocated this year as well. In the long term, the construction of new stores would represent a stable order for the domestic construction industry at a predictable annual level, which may be needed due to the decline in housing construction and the crisis caused by the virus – the company manager told the “Világgdaság” newspaper.
