The construction of a 300 million euro shopping center, Etele Plaza began in Budapest in 2018. The work was characterized by the fact that the formwork surface is 165 thousand square meters and the built-in concrete is 53 thousand cubic meters.
The gross area of the 137.000 m2 building is located at the junction of Kelenföld railway station, metro number 4, several bus and tram services, and in close proximity to the M1 – M7 motorways in the capital. According to preliminary calculations, it will attract about 40.000 customers a day. Of the more than 20 different flat roof surfaces, almost all were formed in reverse layer order. Thousands of cubic meters of RAVATHERM XPS 300 SL extruded polystyrene foam thermal insulation has been installed to ensure efficient energy operation of the building. The roof surfaces include a simple gravel-loaded roof, a green roof and even a roof which can be used for certain leisure activities.
The building housed 180 shops with a total of 55,000 square meters of leasable area. In addition to the largest fashion stores, an indoor event space, a grocery store, restaurants with a terrace, cafes, a multiplex cinema, a fitness room, and a children’s playhouse have also been placed. The multi-level garage with 1,300 spaces has the most advanced positioning and navigation system to facilitate parking by indicating empty spaces, and in the shopping mall it helps customers find the selected store or service via a mobile application.
