Amanda works within the Ravago Building Solutions UK customer service team, offering expert support to our customers, from cradle to gate.
How long have you worked for Ravago, and what have been the highlights to date?
I joined Ravago in November 2020, having previously worked in the same role for Dow for 13 years. Coming back to the Building Solutions business after a seven-year absence has been both rewarding and challenging. It has been particularly lovely to reconnect with customers, colleagues and contacts with whom I worked in the past and I have also enjoyed building relationships with new customers and colleagues.
Tell us a bit about how this role differs to your last position?
I left Dow to work in education and I completed my teacher training. Working in a primary school has its similarities to customer service in that good communication is key. Both roles involve problem solving, negotiation and the ability to multi-task. The most important difference for me is the work-life balance of my new role. Keeping my evenings and weekends free for my interests, hobbies and family time allows me to maintain focus, energy and a positive outlook during the working day.
What, for you, is the most satisfactory part of your role?
I love delighting our customers by exceeding their expectations where possible. Still being able to go the extra mile during the current challenging market conditions is what makes the job rewarding for me.
What are your main interests/hobbies outside of work?
I have embraced life in the countryside these past few years, helped by seeing the world through the eyes of our two-and-a-half-year-old dog. There is nothing I enjoy more than a long walk followed by a nice glass of something by a cosy log fire in the pub! We have recently added a new puppy to the mix, which is fun and exhausting in equal measure. I spend most of my working day sitting at my desk, so it is important to me to be active in my free time. I have recently returned to running having joined a local group, completed my first 10k road race in 3 years and supported some ladies in our village with their Couch to 5k journey. When I am relaxing at home, I love cooking, baking and reading a good novel.
