  • ADVANTAGES OF INVERTED ROOFS FOR CAR PARK DECKS

    The main advantages of an inverted roof construction where there is access for vehicles are as follows:

    • installation of the waterproof layer directly on the solid slab
    • mechanical protection of the waterproof layer with insulation laid on top
    • application of thermal insulation with high compressive strength

    The use of high-strength Ravago XPS insulation boards offers economical and simple structural solutions with long durability for car park decks.

    This type of flat roof is usually exposed to higher static and dynamic loads than normal roof terraces, due to the concentrated wheel pressure  from vehicles, and the dynamic effects of sliding stresses arising from their movement.

    • high resistance to vapour diffusion
  • INSTALLATION OF CAR PARK DECKS

    The order in which the layers are installed is identical to pedestrian accessible terrace roofs up to and including a breather membrane above the insulation.

    Thereafter the layers above must be capable of spreading and coping with the higher dynamic loads presented by moving vehicles.

    The project structural engineer should be consulted on the final choice of the appropriate insulation material and construction.

    Drainage should be provided to all layers of the roof build up above the water proofing layer.
