Ravatherm XPS X ensures efficient and safe thermal insulation within the floor structure of buildings. Uninsulated floors bearing on or suspended over the ground, or over unheated areas, can be responsible for significant heat loss. As well as reducing the heat loss, good floor insulation significantly helps to increase overall levels of comfort by ensuring a positive internal temperature gradient as heat rises. An insulated floor utilises heat storage capacity of the overlying construction more effectively.

SAFE AND EFFICIENT FLOOR INSULATION
The advantages of extruded polystyrene foam are particularly evident on ground-bearing floor structures. As well as being suitable for a traditional insulated floor build-up –when a waterproofing membrane is laid on a sand bed before placing a concrete slab and then adding the insulation, separating membrane and screed finish - the negligible water absorption and zero capillarity of Ravago XPS products means it can also be successfully used when the insulation is laid directly on the sand bed, then a waterproofing membrane laid over, before placing a concrete slab, power float finishing often avoiding the need for a screed.
Whether the floor insulation boards are laid on the ground or over a concrete slab, a fully stable and flat surface must first be prepared.
Ravago XPS insulation boards can be placed directly on 25mm level sand bed, under a reinforced concrete floor slab. Any gas membrane should be placed under the insulation and a DPM can be placed under the insulation - but a DPM/ vapour barrier /separating membrane should always be placed over the insulation below the concrete/screed.
