Hungary has also submitted a draft National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) to the European Commission
NECP, in addition to being an EU regulation, is our fundamental national interest. By 2030, we must create a low-emission, energy-efficient economy in Hungary. This process is intended to be guided by NECP and the energy strategy behind it.
Climate protection measures, energy security and energy independence are linked. The introduction of renewable energy sources and the thermal insulation of buildings have a positive effect on the climate, among other things, and improves the well-being and quality of life of the occupants. In this way, industrial energy efficiency creates modern and durable housing and jobs, thus reducing the country’s energy dependency.
Two main aspects were taken into account in the evaluation of the draft; the ambition of the targets and their feasibility. By 2030, consumption should be reduced by 30% at EU level, of which Hungary undertook to meet the 2005 figure of 8 %.
On the engergy development of the building stock:
What is useful for energy efficiency is the renovation of the building stock and the reduction of energy consumption.
It is likely that in the future, with the implementation of the new measures, we will save twice as much energy as at present. It is estimated that between 2015 and 2030, the energy consumption of the population will decrease by 20%, although central price regulation(reduction) makes it difficult to develop a responsible attitude towards residents. As a matter of fact; by changing behavior we can achieve energy savings of up to 20% in our homes and workplaces.
However, in terms of thermal insulation, we need to bear in mind not only energy savings. With the correct use of sufficient quantity and quality of thermal insulation, we can also save ourselves from many health problems; mold/fungus can have serious consequences for our health. If inadequate insulation is used, the heating cost can increase to several times higher, that is what Ravatherm XPS closed cell polystyrene foam thermal insulation offers a solution for.
