Natalie Sutton is Ravago Building Solutions’ Account Manager for distribution across south England and the Midlands. She has been with the company for 26 years, offering a strong and specialised sales background in chemicals, plastics and the construction industry.
You have worked in the industry for 25 years, how have attitudes changed over the years?
Ravago Building Solutions has a strong reputation for product innovation and the Ravatherm XPS X products we offer, for both the inverted roof and flooring markets, have the best lambda performance for XPS insulation on the market.
Given the superior thermal performance of our products it is often the case that thinner insulation can be used to meet the required U-values so we need our customers to move away from working with £/m3 pricing and start to look at the £/m2 cost picture. If the £/m2 cost is taken into account, the customer will often see significant cost differences.
What aspects of your job do you enjoy most? And what is the most challenging?
I enjoy the variety of my role, travelling, meeting clients and building relationships. I also get involved in product training, production planning, forecasting and marketing campaigns which I also enjoy. I find it exciting when we win a large order that has taken months of work with architects, contractors and our technical desk. The most challenging thing I have had to do recently, is complete training to enable me to master U-value calculations.
What was the motivation behind the recently launched e-learning modules?
There has been a lot of changes over the last couple of years, with Ravago rebranding the former Dow products to Ravatherm XPS X, coupled with significant changes within the building and construction sector. This e-learning has provided us with an ideal opportunity to give people a better understanding of our products, their applications and also the services we offer. We hope this new tool will assist our distribution partners with their knowledge of our products and their applications.
Tell us a little a bit about what you enjoy doing outside work?
I enjoy walking and I’m currently training to do a 50km charity challenge on the Jurassic Coast. I also enjoy reading and I am a member of a local book club. My favourite book I have read recently was Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I love Pilates, it has so many benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing.
