After many years, Füred Hotel, one of the largest and oldest hotels in Balatonfüred, has been reborn. A four-star hotel based on domestic tourism will be completed later this year, doubling up as a spa hotel.
The legendary hotel was once a trade union resort, and although it survived the regime change due to its popularity and excellent positioning, it closed during the 2008 Global Crisis later that year. Balatonfüred has developed enormously in recent decades, especially the lakeside, where thousands of tourists visit each year. The building, which has been empty and unused for years, has not met the development trend of recent years in either its economic or aesthetic quality.
The renovation of Füred Hotel had been planned earlier, but the financial support received within the framework of the Széchenyi Plan was lost in the absence of the start of the works.
As a result of the recent change of ownership, the actual renovation began in 2014, with the participation of Bord Architect Studio. In an interview with the portal balatonfured.hu (http://balatonfured.hu), the architect Péter Bordás puts it this way: “We think in a unified, clean appearance, the tower character of the current building should remain, as it is a symbol, showing an imposing look from the lake. There is no problem with the nature of the building, the tower-like buildings on the shores of the larger water surfaces look good. However, the proportions must be changed, so that we can make the building more harmonious, lighter and friendlier. […] The frame structure of the current building will therefore be preserved, but the reinforced concrete elements will be demolished at the entrance, and a new part of the building will be installed on the side facing Lake Balaton. […]”
As part of the reconstruction, RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB is installed the on the building plinth, and RAVATHERM XPS 300 SL closed-cell thermal insulation on the parking-roof, which is designed not only to modernize the building’s energy, but also to ensure that the thermal insulation is able to withstand the constant pressure on it. The thermal supply of the building will be partly delivered by solar panels, and retaining the generated energy and heat will be partly accomplished by RAVATHERM XPS thermal insulation.
The 10-10 cm thick RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB and 300 SL thermal insulation built into the socle and the parking roof protect Füred Hotel with R = 2,85 m2KW thermal resistance.
RAVATHERM XPS is capable of withstanding both the stresses of the parking roof and socle, and its closed-cell material structure makes it resistant to various types of moisture, maintaining its excellent thermal insulation properties.
