The Dobogókő tourist house, which has been operating since 1906 and is constantly expanding and under development, was further modernized this year thanks to the Hungarian Tourist Association, and the renovated facade walls of the building were covered with RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB thermal insulation.
Shortly before the beginning of the last century, the founders of the Hungarian Tourist Association saw that the increasing number of hikers would need shelters, so in 1898 in Dobogókő they opened the first such log-cabin, which was able to provide security for 15 people in two more rooms.
However, the tourist house soon became quite popular, so the association decided to expand the building. But the history of the house does not stop here, as this trend has continued for more than a hundred years, and the building has undergone many expansions and modernizations.
You can read about the history of the shelter on the association’s website: https://magyarturistaegyesulet.hu/menedekhazak/eotvos-lorand-menedekhaz-dobogoko/
During the renovation of its walls, which are now under monument protection, the thermal insulation is provided by RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB closed-cell polystyrene foam, which in addition to its excellent thermal insulation properties, enables high-strength adhesion and ease of application of plaster with its factory-roughened surface, thus helping to preserve the original character of the building.
As thermal insulation is waterproof and can withstand high loads, it is an ideal choice for both stone and wood cladding. You can find out more about our RAVATHERM XPS 300 WB thermal insulation and its installation methods on the product page below
