As Plant Manager, Martin oversees the day-to-day operations of our busy XPS insulation production facility in King’s Lynn, Norfolk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long have you worked for Ravago, and what have been the highlights to date?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have worked for Ravago for just over 3 years, although I first joined the King\u2019s Lynn site in 1988 and have worked in several other locations around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main highlights have been firstly about surviving and remaining profitable through a number of shocks, including the pandemic, rapid changes to raw materials and products, and recent raw material shortages and electricity price increases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite that, the plant has enjoyed far more investment under Ravago, which has helped to dramatically improve its performance. More importantly, the team has really stepped up to become much more self-sufficient and take advantage of the investment that we have been given.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tell us a bit about how this role differs to your last position?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My last few roles were global – mostly dealing with remote teams – so it\u2019s good to interact on a much more personal level. I\u2019ve found that Ravago operates in a business-focused way and cuts out bureaucracy where possible, which means that decisions are made quicker and involve fewer people than in other environments I\u2019ve experienced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What, for you, is the most satisfactory part of your role?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK XPS business is largely self-sufficient in the way it operates, so we\u2019re able to do what is right for our plant and our business. Support is there when we need it, but generally, our targets are set on achieving success for the business in a safe and ethical manner, and how we do that is largely up to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your main interests\/hobbies outside of work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy cycling, and ride to work as often as I can. Although my playing days are long gone, I still enjoy rugby and help to coach my son\u2019s team. Other than that, the family takes up most of my spare time. Despite our three children getting older and finding their own interests, it\u2019s still brilliant to spend time together.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
